YOUTH FOR HIV/AIDS PREVENTIONS PROJECT (Y4HPP)

Youth for HIV/AIDS Preventions Project (Y4HPP) is a one (1) year project funded by Aids Healthcare Foundation. Project will be implemented in Malindi Sub County in Kilifi County. The primary target beneficiaries of the proposed interventions are adolescents and young people aged 10 to 24 years. The target populations are major: in-school AYP, and out-of-school AYP.

Project Goal: To contribute to a reduction of new HIV infections among adolescents and young people in Malindi Sub County in Kilifi County.

Y4HPP objectives:

1. Increase access to quality HIV and sexual and reproductive health services among adolescents and young people.
2. Promote early treatment, retention, and linkages to positive health, dignity, and prevention (PHDP) interventions for AYP living with HIV.
3. Promote Social and positive Behavior Change among the AYP.

Y4HP Project

Adolescent and young people-friendly service delivery is about providing health services based on a comprehensive understanding of what AYP in any given society or community wants and needs. It is based on an understanding of and respect for the realities of AYP's diversity and rights. World Health Organization (WHO) quality of care framework provides a useful working Definition of adolescent-friendly health services. Several policy documents address HIV and AYP Interventions.
The project is aligned with the national legal and policy framework for the delivery of health services for adolescents and young people. The proposed interventions are in line with the Constitution of Kenya, National Adolescent sexual reproductive health policy, Kenya Sexual and Reproductive Health policy, National guidelines on provision of Youth Friendly Services (YFS), Kenya Essential Package for Health (KEPH), the County Integrated Development Plan (2018 – 2022) and the Kenya AIDS Strategic Framework (2020/21-2024/25) Specifically the project is designed to contribute to the goal of Kilifi county Adolescent and Young People Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV strategy (2020-2025) which is to improve HIV/SRHR outcomes for adolescents and young people in Kilifi county through a sustainable multi-sectorial approach.
